Slightly older news but it’s something to post with the new trailer:
- Scott Miller (3D Realms Co-founder) says Duke might make it this year.
- 3DR faced the problems of trying to grow large enough to maintain three simultaneous internal projects while developing DNF, and it threw the company back–some shit got canned, and other shit was either set aside or given to third party developers.
- 12 years of development went towards interactive environments that their game engine was not mature enough to handle, so the code was rewritten resulting in a series of complications which produced further setbacks.
- Scott Miller says they’ve finally achieved their goal of creating a “super-interactive” game environment.
- 3DR won’t disclose how many employees they have, but they hired a crap-load of new talent after–and this is what the article says–firing half its employees. That’s interesting, because I had the notion they left on their own–but I’ll leave it at that because I don’t want to start any drama.
- Apparently Bombshell (which was one of the three stand-alone game projects 3DR was working on) is now integrated into DNF. Miller isn’t quoted on the confirmation, but the article says she’s part of the Duke universe as Duke’s action-female counterpart.

Ride your music.
Audiosurf is a music-adapting puzzle racer where you use your own music to create your own experience. The shape, the speed, and the mood of each ride is determined by the song you choose. You earn points for clustering together blocks of the same color on the highway, and compete with others on the internet for the high score on your favorite songs.
Audiosurf on Steam includes The Orange Box soundtrack, integrated with the game to enable”Still Alive”surfing and more. In addition, Audiosurf is one of the first titles to leverage the recently announced Steamworks, offering full support for the Steam Achievements that appear on Steam Community profile pages.

Gravity Interactive have released the official trailer for their upcoming “M” rated horror themed MMO Requiem: Bloodymare. Although still excited about this title, I am a bit disappointed that the trailer does not depict the blood and gore they have promised us. The screenshots they sent us last week looked so promising - full of decapitations, fountains of blood gushing forth from your foes, scantily clad drowish looking creatures, and disgusting monsters hell-bent on devouring your person. Why in the world did they not show this in the trailer? There is hardly anything shown in this video that warrants and “M” rating - you see tons of magic and hit effects flying about, and maybe once in a while a few blood droplets hit the camera - but that is it. Instead of a gratuitous blood soaked fightfest we get a video that is a bit blurry, the colors are washed out and the action happens so fast that one can scarcely blink lest something is missed.
Hopefully the next trailer they send us will be much better than this one - and by “better” I am hoping that it shows brighter colors, better editing, and more blood.

It seems Blizzard has a new celebrity featured in their newest WoW commercial. Vern Troyer (of Mini-Me fame) plays WoW and shares a sneak peek in the video below at his character — which looks a LOT like him btw!

EA released a trailer for EA Playground. EA Playground is coming to the Wii and is based on games you probably played when you were in elementary school. Games like Dodgeball, kickball, and tetherball. Most games seemed to have a danger of getting smacked in the face with a ball. Or maybe that was my childhood. From the trailer EA Playground looks like it can be fun for younger kids and families. Warning: the trailer below could cause you to overload your cute filter. This can cause side affects. Make sure you are sitting down when watching…
