A closed beta testing period for Blizzard Entertainment’s highly-anticipated real-time strategy game StarCraft II is set to kick off later this month, CEO Mike Morhaime said in a recent Activision-Blizzard earnings call.
The PC title is slated for release in mid-2010, and Blizzard plans another expansion to the studio’s World of Warcraft franchised, titled Cataclysm, for later this year.
Morhaime says Blizzard expects a “tremendous response” to the beta, which will be available worldwide. Blizzard has details on joining the beta testing on their official website.
2K Games have released BioShock 2 worldwide for the Xbox 360 console, PlayStation 3 system and Games for Windows-LIVE. Building on the original game that sold over 3 million copies, BioShock 2 delivers an artistic and entertaining video game experience.

Aion has had a rocky release, to say the least – bots, RMT, crashing, slow XP leveling, lack of quests at certain levels. NCSoft today implemented a 2nd wave of bannings for bots and appears to be taking this issue seriously. Also, earlier this week, NCSoft release its latest patch. Included, although unpublished, was a fix or a great step to fix the constant crashing during fortress sieges. The future is uncertain but these latest steps may stabilize the subscriptions somewhat and this latest video now may stave off additional defections and regenerate some of the earlier excitement with the game, if the changes come sooner rather than later.
The video shows high-quality graphics that are simply amazing, mounts (with combat?), swimming, underwater leveling areas, housing, killer casting animations, more active weather, city sieges?
A little Thursday evening lagniappe for all you Twilight fans. The Twilight Saga: New Moon movie is due in theaters on November 20th of this year. Here’s a little taste to wet your sanguine appetites.
G4 - Last night, Infinity Ward and Activision invited members of the press out to a sound stage in Hollywood to play Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2 multiplayer for the first time. The developers are adding so much to the game that it’s initially staggering, but after a few rounds, you realize that this is a totally different theater of war than Call of Duty 4 and it’s time to figure out the differences.
There are some major game changers in effect for MW2 and Infinity Ward seems to have taken player feedback to heart. Secondary weapons now include pistols, machine pistols, shotguns, and launchers. No longer will players have to give up their precious primary weapon slot to field a shotgun or lose a perk to grab a rocket launcher. The change also gives a lot of versatility to snipers giving them the option of grabbing a fully-automatic pistol or shotgun for close range conflict.
